According to a survey, Human Resource department of many companies are now giving importance to the exiting formalities of the employee, the Human Resource department would like to know what are the reasons for the employee to resign, is it the salary or anything else, sometimes they take exit interview and tell the employee they can rejoin the company. Team Lease, a Human Resource company had done survey in eight cities and found very interest facts, which mentioned below.

  • 92% and 99% of participants in the survey conducted at Bangalore and Chennai respectively said that Human Resource department should give importance to exit interview and formalities.
  • 76% of the companies are showing interest in exit formalities to know the reasons.
  • 78% feel that 30 days notice period is sufficient.
  • The main reason for changing the employer is the pay package to the employees.
  • 39% of the employers are of the opinion that action to be taken on the employees who do not follow the exit formalities.
  • Almost all the companies are giving preference and importance to the relieving letter.

In Delhi 52% of the employees are thinking to change their job for better prospective and 31% of the employer feel that they should maintain good relationship with ex-employees.

Team Lease conducted the survey in cities like Ahmadabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune and Mumbai and all the employees working departments like Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Operations, Finance, Admin, Human Resource, Systems ( IT). Interviewed employees of age between 21 years to 45 years, it has interviewed nearly 800 employees. Most of the employees need to understand the importance of the relieving letter. Companies should making relieving letters as mandate to the newly joining employees.
